Baxi has been fitted in large numbers across the UK for decades, and the Duo-tec and newer 600/800 combi ranges are ones our engineers see regularly on service calls. We work on Baxi appliances as part of general gas work, holding no accreditation with the brand.

How the range is built

Older Duo-tec models use a fairly conventional layout that is easy to access; the newer 800/600 range is more tightly packaged, closer in style to other modern European combis.

What we see go wrong

Diverter valve and plate heat exchanger scaling in hard water areas, plus PCB failures on units in the 10-15 year bracket.

Servicing and parts

Baxi parts distribution is generally strong given the brand's UK heritage, which helps keep repair turnaround reasonable even on older models.

What we check on a Baxi service

  • Diverter valve operation and hot water response
  • Plate heat exchanger for scale build-up
  • PCB condition on boilers over ten years old

Questions we get asked

Are Baxi and Main the same company?

Main is part of the same manufacturing group as Baxi, and parts commonality exists on some older models, which we check when sourcing components.

Why has my Baxi combi's hot water gone lukewarm?

A scaled plate heat exchanger or a sticking diverter valve are the two most common causes we find on site.

Do you install new Baxi boilers?

We can, though our only manufacturer accreditation is with Worcester Bosch — we'll talk through both options honestly.
