They cost different amounts, take different lengths of time and suit different conditions — and paying for the biggest option on a lightly affected system is money you didn't need to spend.
Chemical clean
A cleanser is dosed into the system and circulated, typically with the heating running, for a period before the system is drained, flushed and refilled with inhibitor. It suits systems with mild contamination, recent installations, and cases where you want a pre-installation clean without the time of a full flush.
Power flush
A dedicated pump and magnetic filter are connected to the system and high-volume flow is driven through each radiator in turn, with flow direction reversed to lift settled magnetite. It suits systems with several radiators cold at the bottom, visibly black system water, or no cleaning history at all. It takes most of a day on a typical house.
Magnetic filtration is not optional afterwards
Whichever clean you choose, a magnetic filter on the return keeps future debris out of the heat exchanger, and it's checked and emptied at each annual service. Cleaning a system and then leaving it unprotected simply resets the clock on the same problem.
How we decide which to recommend
We look at how many radiators are cold at the bottom, the colour of the water when a radiator is bled, whether an inhibitor test shows any protection remaining, and the system's age and history. Then we recommend the smaller option where it will genuinely work — most manufacturers, Worcester Bosch included, require a clean system as a condition of guarantee on a new installation.

Will cleaning fix my cold radiators permanently?
It fixes them provided the cause was sludge and the system is then protected with inhibitor and a magnetic filter. If a radiator is cold because of a seized valve or a pipework blockage, cleaning alone won't resolve it.
Can you test my system water?
Yes — we check inhibitor levels as part of servicing, which tells us whether protection has been depleted before contamination becomes visible.
