Four things to do before we arrive
- 1
Find the stopcock and turn the water off
In most Farnborough homes the internal stopcock sits under the kitchen sink, in an airing cupboard or in the downstairs loo. Turn it clockwise until it stops. On ex-MOD and 1960s Cove properties it is often behind a boxed-in panel by the front door.
- 2
Drain the pipework down
Open the cold taps, starting with the kitchen, and flush the toilets once. That empties the pipes above the leak and usually slows a drip to nothing while you wait for us.
- 3
Keep electrics away from the water
If water is running near a consumer unit, sockets or downlights, switch off at the board and leave it off. We would rather arrive to a dry board than a repair plus an electrical fault.
- 4
Photograph it before you mop
One photo of the wet area and one of the pipe or fitting helps us bring the right parts on the first visit, which is the difference between a fix today and a return trip.
Non-boiler emergencies we deal with
Boiler breakdowns have their own page. This one is for everything on the water side, the calls that come in with a bucket already under the pipe.
Leaks under sinks and behind units
Compression joints, flexi tails and failed isolating valves. Usually a same-visit fix once the water is off.
Burst and split pipes
Frozen copper and plastic runs in lofts, garages and outbuildings, cut out and re-made properly rather than patched with tape.
Overflowing cisterns and tanks
Failed float valves, siphons and cold water storage overflows dripping through ceilings.
Radiator and valve leaks
Weeping TRVs, blown lockshields and pinholed rads, isolated and swapped without draining the whole system where possible.
Taps, showers and toilets out of action
Seized taps, spinning shower cartridges and toilets that will not stop filling, refitted with quality parts.
No water or no hot water
Failed valves, airlocks, seized pumps and immersion faults traced back to the actual cause before anything is quoted.
If the fault is the boiler itself, go straight to emergency boiler repair. For everything else, or if you are not sure which it is, call and describe it.
Around Cove, Hawley and North Camp a lot of the housing still has microbore and older copper runs through unheated lofts, which is where January bursts usually start. On the newer estates off Farnborough Road it is more often plastic push-fit and flexi tap tails letting go inside kitchen units, dripping quietly into chipboard for weeks. Knowing which you have changes what we bring in the van, and it is why we ask a few questions on the phone before setting off.

Emergency plumbing questions, answered straight
What counts as a plumbing emergency?+
Anything where water is escaping and you cannot stop it, or where you have lost water entirely. Burst pipes, leaks coming through a ceiling, overflowing cisterns, no water in the house. If you can isolate it with a valve and it can wait, that is a normal booking and it will cost you less.
What hours do you cover?+
Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm. Call 07891 410 960 and you will speak to John, not a call centre. Outside those hours, turn the water off at the stopcock and leave a message, and we will pick it up when we open.
Do you charge to come out and look?+
You get a clear price for the visit before we set off, and a written price for the repair before any work starts. No diagnostic fees hidden in the invoice and no commission-led upsells.
Can you fix a leak if you cannot see where it is coming from?+
Yes, that is a big part of the job. We trace leaks back through the pipework, check under floors and behind boxing where it is safe to do so, and tell you honestly if a section needs lifting before we can reach it.
Do you cover non-gas plumbing as well as boilers?+
Yes. We are Gas Safe registered (554328) for gas work, but the majority of emergency call-outs are plain water side plumbing, leaks, bursts, valves, tanks, taps and toilets.
Which areas do you get to?+
Farnborough and GU14 first, then Aldershot, Fleet, Frimley, Camberley, Farnham, Yateley and the surrounding Hampshire and Surrey border towns.
Water off and still leaking?
Call 07891 410 960 and tell us what you can see. If we can talk you through stopping it before we arrive, we will.
