What we offer

A useful new boiler quote tells you what will be installed and what work is included, not just the name of an appliance. We begin with your home and current heating, then use a free in-home survey to agree a suitable installation. You receive a fixed price in writing, with the choices and practical work explained before you decide whether to go ahead.

You can start with the boiler questions below or contact us to arrange the survey. The questions help describe your existing setup; the visit checks details that a short form cannot establish. John The Plumb is a Worcester Bosch accredited installer and Gas Safe registered, number 554328. A boiler installation quote should leave you clear about both the equipment and the work around it.

What to tell us first

Let us know the size of the home, how many bathrooms it has and how many people may use hot water together. Describe the current boiler type if you know it, whether there is a hot water cylinder and whether you want to keep the boiler in its present position. Photos of the boiler and flue can help explain the starting point when we discuss the job. You do not need to remove a cover, climb to reach a flue or inspect anything unsafe to provide information.

What the survey adds to a boiler quote

The visit connects your preferences to the actual installation. We look at the boiler position, the route for its flue, condensate drainage, pipework and the hot water arrangement. Access matters too: fitting an appliance in an accessible cupboard is a different job from relocating it or changing the system type. Tell us about any planned changes to the house and when hot water demand is highest. Those details help avoid choosing a boiler around today's room count alone.

Read the scope before comparing totals

Check that the proposal identifies the boiler and the installation work clearly. Look for the flue arrangement, necessary pipe alterations, system cleaning, filter, controls, removal of the old appliance and commissioning. Where an item depends on your existing system, ask what is being allowed for rather than assuming every quote includes the same work. A fixed written quote is easier to understand when it describes the job you have discussed, including any agreed changes to the position or type of boiler.

Compare like with like

Two boiler quotes may describe different solutions even when they appear to be for the same house. One could retain a cylinder while another proposes a combi conversion; one could include new controls or additional pipework. Compare the appliance model, system arrangement and installation scope before treating the totals as interchangeable. Keep a short list of questions about anything unclear, and ask for the explanation in writing. Our guide to comparing boiler quotes goes into the practical differences worth checking.

Agree the next step after the quote

Once the installation scope is clear, discuss fitting dates and how the work affects heating and hot water. There is no useful universal timescale between a first enquiry and an installation: the proposed work and available dates need to be agreed for your job. If you want to spread the cost, review the finance information alongside the written proposal. 0% finance is available on Worcester Bosch systems; the finance page explains the terms so that the payment decision remains separate from choosing a suitable boiler.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is the quote free?+

Yes. We offer a free in-home survey and provide a fixed price in writing for the proposed boiler installation.

What do you need to know to quote for a boiler?+

The home size, bathroom count, hot water use, current boiler and any cylinder are useful starting points. Photos of the boiler and flue can help, but the survey checks the installation details before the written quote.

How quickly can a new boiler be fitted after the quote?+

We discuss available fitting dates once the survey and installation scope are agreed. The work involved varies, so contact us about your circumstances rather than assuming a standard waiting time.
