How the changeover is decided
By outside temperature, by flow temperature demand, or by running cost logic in the controller. Getting that logic right is most of the commissioning work.
Why it forgives an older house
On mild days the heat pump carries the load at low flow temperatures; on the coldest days the boiler takes over and radiators still get properly hot.
What it does not solve
Hydraulic separation, poor system water quality and undersized emitters all still bite. A hybrid is not a shortcut past a bad system.

It depends entirely on the changeover settings and the building. We will not put a figure on it without the heat loss numbers.
Can any boiler be used in a hybrid?
It needs to be in good condition and controllable. A tired appliance is worth replacing as part of the work.
Is the servicing more complicated?
There are two appliances, so gas and F-Gas competencies both come into play.
