What blocks a flue
Birds' nests, leaves, ice on the terminal in hard frosts, collapsed sections in older flue runs, and new structures such as extensions or sheds built too close to the terminal can all restrict it. The flue has to be clear and correctly positioned for the boiler to run safely, so any suspected blockage is a job for a Gas Safe engineer.

Can I clear the outside flue terminal myself?
Removing an obvious bird's nest or leaves you can reach safely from the ground is reasonable, but do not dismantle the flue. Have the boiler checked before relying on it again.
