What we offer

Baxi is one of the longest-established boiler names in British homes, and a lot of people still have an older Baxi on the wall or a Baxi back boiler behind the fireplace. If you are thinking about a new Baxi boiler, the most useful thing we can do is help you pick the right kind of Baxi for your home. We fit all the major brands, including Vaillant, Ideal and Baxi.

John The Plumb is Gas Safe registered (554328) and a Worcester Bosch accredited installer, and we fit Baxi boilers where they suit the property. The decision usually starts with the type of home you live in rather than the brand. A free in-home survey leads to a fixed price in writing.

Flats and smaller homes

In a flat or a smaller house with one bathroom, a Baxi combi is often the neatest answer. It heats water on demand, so there is no cylinder or loft tank, and the boiler can usually sit in a kitchen cupboard. The limiting factor is the incoming mains: a combi can only deliver hot water at the rate your supply allows. In flats we also check where the flue can terminate, because shared walls, balconies and windows above restrict the options.

Family homes with more than one bathroom

Where two showers might run at once, a Baxi system boiler with a hot water cylinder can be a better choice than a large combi. The cylinder stores hot water so several outlets can draw at once. We are G3 qualified and we fit Megaflo, Telford and Joule cylinders, so an unvented cylinder at mains pressure can be part of the same job if your supply supports it.

Older houses with tanks in the loft

Homes with a cold water tank and feed and expansion tank in the loft often have a regular, or heat-only, boiler. A Baxi heat-only boiler can replace it like for like, keeping the existing cylinder and tanks. That is sometimes the least disruptive route, particularly with older pipework that may not cope well with mains pressure. We will explain the trade-offs of keeping the tanks against converting to a system or combi.

Replacing an old Baxi back boiler

Back boilers sit behind a gas fire and are now replaced by a wall-mounted boiler in a new position. That means a new flue route, condensate drain and often a new gas run, plus making safe the fireplace opening. It is a bigger job than a straight swap, but it is also a chance to put the new boiler somewhere more convenient. If you have a Baxi back boiler, mention it when you contact us so the survey covers the extra work.

Fitting and handover

Whichever type you choose, the system is cleaned before the new boiler goes on and a magnetic filter is fitted as standard. The boiler is commissioned and tested, the controls are set up, and the installation is registered. Baxi's manufacturer guarantee terms depend on the model, so check the details listed for the boiler in your quote and keep the paperwork safe.
