What we offer

Air conditioning for bedroom comfort starts with how the room feels when you are trying to sleep. A fixed wall-mounted split system gives the bedroom its own temperature control, without a portable unit standing on the floor and exhausting through an open window. The design needs to consider airflow, sound and furniture together, so cooling the room does not mean directing a stream of air across the pillow.

We install domestic split systems from Worcester Bosch, Mitsubishi, Daikin, Panasonic and more. John The Plumb is REFCOM registered for F-Gas work, and offers a free in-home design and quote. Whether you are considering a bedroom air conditioning unit for one room or several indoor units across a sleeping floor, the installation begins with the way those bedrooms are used.

Air conditioning for bedroom comfort

Plan for bedtime, not the hottest minute

Tell us when the bedroom becomes uncomfortable, whether the windows can be opened and whether sunlight builds up heat before evening. A room used only at night has different priorities from one that doubles as a daytime workspace. Think about how you would use the controls before bed and overnight, rather than simply asking for the strongest possible blast of cold air. The survey uses room size, glazing and layout to discuss an appropriate unit and its position.

Where the indoor unit belongs

The wall with the easiest pipe route is not necessarily the best place for sleeping comfort. We consider the bed position, wardrobes, door openings and the direction in which the unit can distribute air. Avoid planning a position where furniture blocks the outlet or where air would blow directly at someone sleeping. Leave the unit accessible, and look at how visible it will be from the bed. These small layout decisions help you compare realistic mounting positions before installation.

Quiet settings need a model-specific conversation

The systems on our air conditioning page include sleep modes and adjustable airflow, but the available settings depend on the equipment selected. Ask which night settings a proposed model has and how they affect fan speed and temperature control. Sound is not only about the indoor unit: the outdoor position also matters near bedroom windows, including a neighbour's. We discuss both sides of the installation rather than promising that any system will be inaudible in every room.

One bedroom or a sleeping floor?

A single split has one indoor unit and one outdoor unit, making it a straightforward layout to consider for a single bedroom. A multi-split installation can connect several indoor units to one outdoor unit when the design suits the property. Each bedroom still needs a suitable indoor position and connecting route. Do not assume a unit on the landing will cool closed bedrooms evenly. If only some rooms are regularly occupied, tell us which ones matter most so the design follows those priorities.

Pipes, drainage and the portable alternative

A fixed split needs refrigerant pipework, electrical connections and a route for condensate formed during cooling. We discuss where those services pass through the wall and how they reach the outdoor unit. A portable unit avoids a permanent split installation, but takes floor space and needs its exhaust arrangement considered each time it is used. Our split-versus-portable comparison explains that choice further. For a fixed system, the quote records the agreed equipment and routes before fitting and commissioning.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth putting air conditioning in a bedroom?+

It can be worth considering when heat regularly makes the room uncomfortable at night. A survey helps you judge the mounting position, temperature control and practical installation rather than choosing a unit on room size alone.

How quiet is a bedroom air conditioner?+

That depends on the model, fan setting and installation position. Discuss the proposed unit's sleep settings and sound information, and consider the outdoor unit's location near windows as well.

Can one outdoor unit serve several bedrooms?+

A multi-split system can serve several indoor units from one outdoor unit. The survey checks which rooms you want covered and whether the pipe routes and unit positions make that layout suitable.
